  • Alone Among Bears: David Bittner

    Every year Swiss biologist David Bittner spends several weeks observing bears on Kodiak Island. Kodiak Island is the largest island in the Kodiak archipelago off Alaskas coast. Here there is plenty of food that´s why the islands brown bears come extra large.   More Information »

  • Creating an “Inari word-picture-book”

    The Inari Sami is a language that is threatened with extinction. Nowadays, it is spoken by only about 250 Inari Sami people. The Inari word-picture-book is supposed to portray the last generation of a people that still speaks the Inari Sami language and thus help contribute to preserve their culture.   More Information »

  • Preserving San Rock Paintings

    The rock paintings in South Africas uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park are of immeasurable value. They testify to the local San bushmen`s millennia-old culture and have been under UNESCO`s special protection since 2000.   More Information »

  • SAR Dogs of the South Tyrol Alpine Club

    The SAR Dogs of the South Tyrol Alpine Club has a long tradition. Already in the 1960’s, young puppies were brought and trained to search for people buried by an avalanche. Today, 42 dog handlers together with their four-legged companions are part of the South Tyrol rescue team.   More Information »

  • Lara Klaassen runs for the environment

    The long-distance runner Lara Klaassen combines top sporting performance with ecological commitment. During her "Meuse-Marathon", she will, for several weeks, run along the Meuse for about 42 km each day and will make a stop at various environmental projects.   More Information »

  • Protect the Birds on Small Norderoog Island

    Small Norderoog Island in the North Frisian Wadden Sea is one of the few places where seabirds can still brood in peace. But even this last sanctuary is threatened.
